The short version
Snip Marker collects no data: the app has no servers and no accounts, and there is nowhere to send anything. Your screenshots stay on your computer.
What the app stores
Only the settings you choose - keyboard shortcuts, language, theme, launch at startup - on your device. A screenshot is held in memory while you edit it. It is written to disk only when you save it, and it leaves the computer only when you copy, save or send it yourself. The app keeps no history of screenshots.
What the app never sees
There is no registration, so we hold no phone numbers, emails, names or user identifiers. The app does not record keystrokes: the global shortcut is the only key combination it listens for.
Permissions
On macOS the app needs Screen Recording permission: without it the system does not let it capture the screen. The screen is captured only when you trigger a snip. The app does not use the camera, microphone, location, contacts or photos.
Update check
The only network request the app makes is a check for new versions: a plain GET of the static file version.json on this site, at most once a day, with no identifiers, parameters or account. The web server sees only the standard request data (IP address, time).
This website
The site is static, sets no cookies and runs no analytics or third-party scripts. The web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, requested page, time) for operational purposes only.
